Artificial Intelligence in picture analysis (CICA)

The project focuses on the development of algorithms for automated analyses of capsule investigations. 

Capsule endoscopy has great potential in large bowel diagnostics, screening and follow up. It may reduce the need for colonoscopies and supplement colonoscopy as a more convenient and comfortable method for bowel diagnostics. 

The manual evaluation of the 20.000 pictures produced by each investigation is taking time from highly specialised personnel and is costly. Routine clinical implementation depends on accurate, efficient, fast and inexpensive picture analysis avoid of inter observer variation.


The project seeks to develop automated analyses of capsule investigations and develop a new generation of intelligent dual-mode camera pills with the ability of processing image data in real-time and on the go.
