Full title: Prediction of Patients with Alcohol Use Disorder from Historical Electronic Health Records
One out of seven deaths among men and one out of thirteen deaths among women in the EU is caused by alcohol consumption. The aim of this project is to increase the healthcare sector’s options when preventing these deaths.
The RELIP project will develop an algorithm to use existing information in the patient recordto ensure early identification of a problematic alcohol consumption among hospitalised patients.
The project has two aims:
- to develop a clinically relevant platform for the staff to begin early intervention towards alcohol problems.
- to develop and test a model for how to use already-collected patient data in a relevant way to inform staff about patient symptoms without increasing time consumption or collection of documentation.
Experience with the development of algorithms for the identification of alcohol problems is anticipated to be useful in various areas.
